Book Week

19.3. - 23.3.2012

What a great week Book Week has been! The children have had the opportunity to ‘buddy up’ with a class and participate in many exciting activities, such as: paired reading, puppet shows and art activities from around the world.
Karen York, a published author, visited us to read her story, Susie and Tom Travel the World: Prague. The children were then able to ask her questions about being an author and why she decided to write a book.
We were also very lucky to have a visit from the bookstore, Amadito & Friends. Olivia read a story in her home language and answered many questions about what it’s like to run a bookstore.
Many parents generously gave their time to read stories from around the world and talk about their own cultures.
To finish off the week, each child was able to amaze us by dressing up as their favourite book characters. We had some great costumes which were paraded down the catwalk in a special Book Week assembly.
I hope your child had as much fun as we did and has inspired them to love reading books even more!
