Reception Term 4 March 2012
We began this term with our new topic about ‘Bugs.’ We went on a bug hunt, equipped with magnifying glasses and bug catcher pots. Even though it is still winter we were surprised by how many creatures we found when we looked really hard. There were lots of ladybirds and some were red with yellow spots! We took the dead ones back to school and had a go at using the microscope to have a closer look. We have been learning to sort the bugs in different ways, painting bug pictures, learning to play the ‘Beetle Drive’ game and learning lots of bug facts. Do you know how many wings a ladybird has? We have been finding out about different bug habitats and exploring non-fiction books. We have been doing lots of ladybird maths and learning about symmetry by looking at butterflies. It has been a busy start to the term. Next week we are learning about animals and we hope that some pets will come and visit us!
Last week we received all our new toys from England which we purchased with the money raised from the POP! Bake sale. Thank you so much for supporting this event. We have had lots of fun playing and learning with our new toys as you can see below! |

Reception Term 3 January 2012
In Reception we have been starting our new topic on 'Transport.' We have made new role-play areas based on the children's interests. We have an airport with an aeroplane, and a house which the children have helped to create. We have been thinking about lots of different ways to travel either to school or on holiday. We are looking forward to finding out more about transport in the coming weeks! |

Reception trip to Pizzeria Rugantino
Reception went to Pizzeria Rugantino to make their very own pizzas! They learnt how to stretch the dough and then added the toppings that they liked. They were able to see their pizzas in the oven and then ate them for lunch. Delicious!

Trip Reception K
Reception K had lots of fun on their trip to the Lego Museum. They got to see many different lego models, old and new and had time to build their own. Many of the children made a new friend. Can you spot him in the pictures in our photo gallery? |

Trip Reception S
Reception S had so much fun on the trip to the lego museum. We saw different lego houses and castles, lego trains with tracks, fire engines and many other models, all made from lego. It was so exciting! For more photos visit our photo gallery.

Term 1 in Reception K
We have had a busy first few weeks in Reception K. We began by learning about ourselves and our friends. We spent lots of time getting to know the different areas of our classroom. We love our doctor's surgery, investigation table and our sensory box. A recent addition has been two new laptops which are very popular. As part of our phonics we have made musical instruments and we also went on a listening walk wearing our big ears! We learnt about the pets that we would like and now we are learning about our bones!
