Stephanie Sutherland

Head of Year 13, and Teacher of Science

I originate from a very small, remote village in the far north of Scotland who has been teaching for 30+ years. I have had the privilege to teach science (mainly Chemistry and Biology) in countries as diverse as Zimbabwe, Cuba and India as well as several regions of the UK. During my career I have been head of science and head of year as well as taking on responsibilities to lead change in terms of educational approaches to implementing assessment and cooperative learning techniques. I believe that children learn best when they are happy and feel valued and enjoy making my subjects accessible to everyone.

Outside of school much of my life has been spent raising four children and fostering others. As part of this I enjoy walking, sailing and riding motorbikes and in my calmer moments reading, knitting and sewing.

I am looking forward to being part of a progressive school and challenging myself and the children to be the best we can.
