The future is bright for this young team — their togetherness and technical ability stood out all weekend.
U18 Girls – A Historic First and a Bronze Medal Finish
Our first-ever Park Lane girls’ football team made history in Barcelona. Their opening match was a tough learning experience, but the team showed unwavering determination and used every game as a chance to grow.
By Game 3, the girls had found their rhythm and identity — Oli commanding the goal, Marianna leading confidently from midfield, and the back line of Daniela, Christa, Julie, and Natalie standing strong.
With Anja and Klara driving play through the middle and Bella and Agata showing fantastic pace up front, the team pressed higher, kept possession, and created more chances as the tournament progressed.
The girls’ hard work was rewarded with a bronze medal and huge praise from the WSG organisers for their improvement across the weekend.
Players of the Match:
Olga – fearless between the posts, especially in Game 5.
Mariana – consistent focus and determination throughoutThis team’s journey was about growth, confidence, and teamwork — and they made Park Lane history in style!
U17 Boys – Experience and Resilience on Display
Our most experienced team, the U17 boys, travelled to Salou and faced one of the toughest groups in the competition.
They opened with a disciplined 0–0 draw vs. Randor House Sevenoaks, followed by a commanding 4–0 win over Temple School (Nigeria). Despite a narrow 1–0 defeat to Brooks House College, the team showed superb defensive organisation and composure.
A gritty performance against Naas CBS (Ireland) saw them finish third in the group, before a dramatic plate playoff against the American School of Sofia — where Daniel Stribny’s long-range equaliser took the match to penalties. The boys were edged out in the shootout, but their unity, discipline, and fight were exceptional.
A huge credit to the players and to Mr. Beven, whose tactical guidance and leadership continue to shape our football programme.
A big thank you to Mr Beven, Mr Marcilla, Ms Johnson, Mrs Beven and Mr Teasdale for guiding and looking after the students on the trip. This trip wouldn’t have been a success without any of them and their hard work on and off the pitch.
