We have an incredibly action-packed few months ahead as we launch our new topic: Rampaging Romans. We are traveling back in time to 55 BC to discover who the Romans were, why they invaded Britain, and the legacy they left behind.

Our English work will be heavily linked to our history topic. We are diving into Roman Diary: The Journal of Iliona to understand life from a different perspective. In our History and Geography lessons, we will explore Roman engineering—including roads, bridges, and aqueducts—and learn about the might of the Roman army and the rebellion of Boudicca.

A key focus for Year 3 this term is Oracy. We will be holding “Town Hall meetings” each week where the children will debate complex issues, such as banning cars from city centres or the ethics of single-use plastics. This helps them practice building arguments, use persuasive techniques, develop consensus, justify their opinions and develop their critical thinking.

Later this term, our focus will shift to biology with our “Bones and Bodies” unit. We will identify parts of the human body, exploring how skeletons and muscles work, and understanding nutrition. We are also excited to use the VR headsets; bring learning to life, allowing us to virtually visit Hadrian’s Wall and even explore the human skeleton in 3D.

Special Highlights
We are incredibly excited about the ice skating this term! This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to develop balance, coordination, and resilience in a fun and new environment.

This term promises to be full of discovery, debate, and practical learning!
