Family Community

Parent – Staff Association

At Park Lane International School, family community is an essential part of school life. Our Parent-Staff Association brings parents, carers, teachers and school staff together to strengthen the connections that support our pupils’ learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging.

As a diverse international school in Prague, we understand how important it is for families to feel welcomed, informed and connected. The PSA plays an active role in this, helping families settle into the Park Lane community, encouraging communication between home and school, and creating opportunities for parents and staff to work together in support of our children.

A collaborative community

The PSA is a partnership between parents, carers and members of staff. It supports the social and educational life of the school by bringing people together across year groups, campuses and nationalities.

Through regular communication, shared ideas and parent-led initiatives, the PSA helps to nurture the warm, inclusive and collaborative spirit that characterises Park Lane.

Welcoming new families

Moving to a new school — and often to a new country — is a significant step for any family. One of the PSA’s most valued roles is helping new Park Lane families feel at home from the very beginning.

Parent volunteers share practical advice, local knowledge, contacts and language support, helping newcomers understand both school life and life in Prague. These personal connections make the settling-in process smoother and help new families quickly become part of the community.

Community events and activities

Throughout the school year, the PSA supports a wide range of community events and activities. These include major school celebrations such as the Welcome Picnic, Winter Market and International Day, as well as Sports and Wellness events, creative workshops, cooking exchanges, Wine & Cheese networking evenings and family activities.

Each event gives families the chance to meet beyond the classroom, celebrate the international character of our school and build friendships that enrich daily life at Park Lane.

Parents contribute to Park Lane in many meaningful ways. Some share their professional experience through careers-related opportunities, workshops or visiting-speaker sessions. Others help with cultural activities, venues, catering, event planning, charity projects or creative initiatives.
Whether a parent can help once a year or take part more regularly, every contribution is valued.

  • Inspiring speaker sessions — talks or workshops led by parents, professionals or invited guests.

Volunteering and fundraising

The PSA also supports volunteering and fundraising across the school. Families may help run a stall, support an event, contribute to a community project or assist with charitable initiatives.

These activities strengthen our community while giving pupils an important example of cooperation, generosity and active citizenship.

The PSA is open to all Park Lane parents and careers. There is no single way to be involved: some families contribute ideas, others offer time, contacts, languages, professional expertise or practical help at events.

Whatever your availability, your involvement helps make Park Lane a welcoming, caring and internationally minded community for our children, our families and our staff.

Families can stay connected with the PSA and the wider school community through the weekly Primary and Secondary updates, ClassDojo in Primary, the PSA Facebook group, the PSA calendar, school emails and community events throughout the year.
