Could you be one of Park Lane’s exceptional academic scholars of 2027 and beyond?

At Park Lane International School in central Prague, we believe academic excellence is about more than good grades. It’s about curiosity, independent thinking, intellectual ambition and the determination to discover what you are capable of achieving.

In January 2027, we invite outstanding students entering Years 7-10 (Grade 6 to Grade 9) + Year 12 (Grade 11) in September 2027 to take part in our Academic Scholarship Contest.

Whether you already attend Park Lane or currently study at another school, this is your opportunity to show us what you can do.

This is more than an exam. It is a challenge designed to reveal how you think, how you approach difficult questions and how far your academic potential could take you.

Think independently
Ask questions and challenge assumptions
Make connections between ideas
Approach problems creatively
Show intellectual curiosity
Enjoy tackling difficult or unfamiliar problems
Have the determination and ambition to develop their potential

Perhaps you always want to know why. Perhaps you love solving problems without obvious answers, read beyond the syllabus or pursue a subject simply because you find it fascinating.

YOUR APPLICATION

Your challenge starts with a letter.

Before taking part, every applicant must write a motivation letter to the Park Lane Scholarship Committee.

This letter must fit on one side of A4 paper with a minimum font size 11.

Tell us why you believe you are a suitable contender for an academic scholarship. What makes you curious? What subjects fascinate you? What challenges you intellectually? What have you explored beyond the classroom? What do you hope to achieve?

FOR PARENTS

An opportunity for exceptional academic students – wherever they currently study

The Park Lane Academic Scholarship Contest 2027 is open equally to exceptional current Park Lane students and outstanding students applying from other schools.

The competition is open to:

Eligible Park Lane students currently studying in Years 6, 7, 8 & 9 plus Year 11,
Students from other schools who are suitably qualified and applying for entry to Park Lane (Years 7-10, plus Year 12) in September 2027.

All candidates take part in the same contest and are assessed against the same criteria with suitable age-related adjustments factored in. Current Park Lane students considering applying are encouraged to speak to their teachers and seek their advice before submitting their application. Their teachers can help them assess whether the
Academic Scholarship Contest is the right challenge for them.

EXTERNAL APPLICANTS

Successful external candidates must also complete Park Lane’s standard admissions process and demonstrate an appropriate level of English proficiency for their intended entry point.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

What does the scholarship provide?

The scholarship awards will provide reductions of 20% to 80% on annual tuition fees.

The Scholarship Selection Committee determines each award individually, based on the candidate’s overall performance, potential and suitability, considering the full selection process and the high standards established through Park Lane’s previous scholarship contests of a similar nature. This provides a consistent benchmark for exceptional achievement and helps ensure that the school’s rigorous scholarship standards are maintained from year to year.

The percentage awarded is fixed for the entire scholarship period.

The same scholarship terms and selection standards apply to current Park Lane students and successful
external applicants.

Every Park Lane Scholar receives an assigned mentor who supports the student and monitors their
scholarly journey year by year.

Academic pathways

Year 7-9

Seven, six or five-year scholarships: An opportunity to develop academically throughout secondary education and prepare for an ambitious future.

Year 10

A four-year pathway encompassing Cambridge IGCSE qualifications followed by the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, preparing students for leading universities and beyond.

Year 12

The 2-year IB Diploma Programme ending in Year 13 (12th grade)

How are candidates assessed?

Each candidate is considered individually, drawing on:

School reports and academic achievements
Teachers’ recommendations
Online and face-to-face intelligence assessments
A stimulating verbal challenge and presentation
An individual interview
An interview with the candidate and their parents

The process is designed to identify strong academic ability, intellectual curiosity, independent thinking, creativity, potential and ambition.
