Esther Russell

Year 6E Class Teacher

Although I am originally from Glasgow, Scotland, I have spent over 10 years living and teaching abroad. In 2006 I completed a degree in International Business Studies and Languages (French, Spanish and German) at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. This was followed shortly by a PGDE in Primary School Teaching. During my time teaching in Scotland I taught Primary 4 and Nursery. I then decided to move to Vietnam to teach at the British International School of Ho Chi Minh City. During my first 3 years I was the Primary Modern Foreign Languages Leader whilst also teaching French and Spanish throughout the primary school. Although I loved being a language teacher, I missed having my own class and building up a close relationship with the children in my care. Therefore, I changed roles to be a Year 6 teacher and the Integrated Technologies Leader.

After 5 years in Vietnam I wanted to move closer to home so I returned to Europe to teach at the Berlin British School. I taught Year 3 there for two years. Now I am embarking on another new adventure as I begin teaching Year 5 at Park Lane. I look forward to getting to know my class and embark on all the exciting teaching and learning which we have planned for this year.

In my spare time I like visiting new places, trying new things and tasting cuisines from all over the world. I enjoy music and drama and I am eager to see what opportunities exist in Prague to further my passion. Living in such an international city I hope to have lots of opportunities to use the various languages I speak, whilst also trying my hand at the Czech language.
