Peter Johnston

Year 1 Class Teacher

I am originally from Northern Ireland and am delighted to be joining Park Lane International School. I graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2007 and completed my PGCE in 2024. I am now entering my 15th year of teaching, having had the privilege of working in a range of international settings, including six years in South Korea, four years in Moscow and four years in Cyprus.

Working across such diverse cultures has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career and is something I consider to be one of my greatest strengths as an educator. It has taught me the importance of understanding different perspectives, celebrating diversity and creating an inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Much of my experience has been in the Early Years and lower primary, where I particularly enjoy supporting children as they develop their confidence, independence and curiosity as learners. I believe that children learn best when they are actively engaged, encouraged to ask questions and given opportunities to explore.

Creativity is at the heart of my teaching. I enjoy finding imaginative and practical ways to bring learning to life and create memorable experiences for children. I look forward to becoming part of the Park Lane community and helping my students develop a lifelong love of learning.
