Rachel Baranski

EAL Coordinator, Teacher of English and English Literature

Having completed my PGCE in 2011, my first teaching post was at Charter Academy in Portsmouth. This school had been my first placement on the course and I was thrilled to return. I worked there for two years. The inner-city location of the school led to there being a high intake of EAL students, whom I had the privilege of working closely with.

I then moved to Abu Dhabi to teach for the Abu Dhabi Education Council. I was posted to Ghayathi, a small rural town, three hours from Abu Dhabi city. The time I spent there was incredibly rewarding and interesting – it is not every day that you see a student riding a camel from the staff room window! Following this, I worked in Abu Dhabi city in two British curriculum schools, the last three years of which was at Al Basma British school, a forward thinking and dynamic school with a strong sense of community, qualities I know Park Lane shares.

I am really excited to now be living in Prague. I have loved the vibrancy of culture here since my first visit a decade ago. I look forward to exploring the city and all it has to offer.
