The last two weeks have focused on translations. We celebrated International Translation Day on 30th September and ran various workshops and lessons devoted to this beautiful discipline that is often forgotten. This was the second year that the Czech Department had given students an opportunity to try out this demanding profession during Czech lessons.

Y10 students had a competition for the best translation of a poem. They had to translate poetry written in English into Czech. The winner will be announced next week.

Our IB students also took part in these activities. Together with their teachers they created and organised an action game for Y7 and Y8 students in Valdštejnská. It was all about false friends, pairs of words in two languages that look and sound the same or similar but actually have different meanings.
