Michaela Manton

Teacher of Czech as an Additional Language

My journey into teaching began in 2012, and it remains one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made. With a Master’s degree in Czech Language and Literature from the University of Ostrava and a teaching qualification from Palacký University in Olomouc, I took my passion for languages abroad and relocated to the UK.

In London, I gained invaluable experience teaching at a variety of language institutes and schools, including the School of Slavonic and East European Studies at UCL and the Czech School without Borders.

In 2016, I co-founded the Czech Language Club, a language school where I led a team of dedicated teachers, designed tailor-made curricula, and taught both adults and children. After seven enriching years in the UK, I returned to the Czech Republic and joined Park Lane. Originally from Moravia, I now truly enjoy living in this beautiful and vibrant city.

Languages and literature have been lifelong passions of mine. Working in an international school is incredibly inspiring—it’s a space where languages and cultures naturally converge. As a Czech teacher, I have the privilege of introducing students to our language and guiding them as they explore Czech culture. It brings me great joy to see students engage with the language and begin to use it confidently in everyday life.

When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with my family, reading, baking, taking long walks, and travelling the world.
