In the first term of this school year, Park Lane children have been exploring, investigating many ideas within the science curriculum. We always seek a balance between theory and practical science so that children develop critical skills such as predicting, planning and conducting fair tests, and analysing results to form conclusions.

Science lessons are an integral part of each year group’s Topic themes, and often are combined with other subject areas such as Technology and Mathematics to give learning a broader context.

In Year 2, the children investigated the properties of materials in order to design and build pirate ships. Which materials were waterproof? How could we make sure our boats would float? Then we headed down to the local pond to test out our completed designs.
