Czech as an Additional Language (CAL) pupils from Y3 and Y5 visited a puppet performance at Divadlo Spejbla a Hurvínka in Dejvice last week. Spejbl and Hurvínek is a traditional Czech puppet comedy duo actually the first professional puppet theatre established in Czechoslovakia. The children were introduced to all the characters during our CAL lessons and for many it was the first time they saw a real puppet show. Not to forget … a puppet show in Czech!! The teachers were very proud of the children’s excellent behaviour during the play. The children got completely absorbed by the exciting story about the kingdom where a huge flea became the king. They even sang along with the main song of the show.
