On Tuesday, as part of the Young Spectator’s Club, we watched a performance of War and Peace at the ABC theatre with Czech students. Students could eplore the fate of the aristocratic nobility in Russia at the time of the Napoleonic Wars.
The themes that appeared in the play were about the search for truth, the meaning of life, the loss of ideals, love, recklessness and the desire for authenticity.
Tolstoy’s work was sensitively dramatized by Michal Dočekal. The production was full of fun and original ideas that make this Russian classic attractive even for a contemporary audience.
We really liked the performance and the students are already looking forward to future performances.
